This is a shot of the initial German set-up. The chits represent various things, typically foxholes and individual troops, and crew-served weapons. The clusters of chits essentially represent dug-in squads. They are holding a perimeter around a low hill in the centre of the village - dominated by the large building near the top-centre of the frame. As this was a double-blind scenario we had no idea as to the whereabouts of these troops. (In fact we did not expect they would be here - and dug-in for that matter.) We were approaching from across a field, off the left side of the frame. In terms of map scale, each hexagonal area is 20 metres across. |
