SERVICES is an action-packed, one-hour documentary about the global online phenomenon of Half-Life: Counter-Strike - a multiplayer-only "first-person shooter" computer game in which players join opposing squads engaged in infantry-style battle.

Shot in gritty digital video, SERVICES goes deep into this "violent" game. There is the simulated shooting, killing and dying - but the documentary also explores the feel, excitement and dynamics of play; the surprisingly complex strategy and teamwork the game demands; the humour and genuine fun; and finally the larger implications of the game for us. SERVICES revolves around an informal tournament between two very different "clans". One is a hard-core, street-level team that plays like a platoon of trained commandoes. The other is a group of co-workers at a dot-com company who rely on the considerable skills of their individuals. One night in the dot-com's open-concept office they battle it out.
